Govt machinery working round the clock in flood affected areas

More than 26,191 people shifted to safer places

In order to save precious human lives and property as per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Govt machinery has been working on a war footing to normalise the situation created by torrential rains in the state.

Giving the top most priority to the health of people, the Health Department (Govt machinery) teams are actively working round the clock in the flood affected areas. At present, 316 Rapid Response Teams have been working in flood ravaged areas, besides setting up 189 medical camps and providing free medicines to the patients.

As per the directions given by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, 26,191 flood-affected people have been evacuated to safe places. A total of 148 relief camps are running in the state in which 3731 people are staying.

A spokesperson said that 1414 villages in 15 districts are still affected by floods. The 15 districts that are currently affected from floods include Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Patiala, Moga, Ludhiana, Mohali, SBS Nagar, Fazilka, Jalandhar, Kapurthala and Sangrur.

32 people have lost their lives due to floods : Govt machinery

According to the report received by the revenue department (Govt machinery) from different districts, a total of 32 people have lost their lives due to floods in the state while 3 are still missing.

He further informed that dry food packets are being continuously distributed in the flood affected areas. More than 21,025 dry food packets have been distributed in Rupnagar, 59,000 in Patiala, 3600 in in SAS Nagar, 5700 in SBS Nagar and 2200 in Fatehgarh Sahib.

To keep livestock safe from diseases, Animal Husbandry Department has vaccinated 4285 animals where as 2874 animals have been treated so far.
